IRATA Certified Journeyperson Insulator - LNG Kitimat Turnaround

Tacten is seeking IRATA Certified Journeyperson Insulators to join our team for an upcoming Turnaround project at the LNG site in Kitimat, BC!

This is a great opportunity to be part of a high-performing team supporting critical turnaround work at one of BC’s leading industrial sites. You’ll work alongside experienced trades and rope access professionals in a dynamic, safety-focused environment, utilizing industry-leading rope access technology to support the successful execution of the project.

Position Details:

• Start Date: October 5, 2026
• Site/Location: LNG - Kitimat, BC.
• Duration: ~3 weeks
• Shift/Hours: 6/1 rotation, 12 hours per shift (Day Shift -or- Night Shift) 
• Hourly Rate $58.00/hr. depending on certifications and experience
• Travel: Flights provided from major Canadian city hubs
• Accommodations: Company-provided local accommodations, plus LOA

As part of the Kitimat Turnaround team, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently completing insulation work required to support critical maintenance activities throughout the project. Responsibilities will include:

• Removing, installing, repairing, and replacing insulation on piping, vessels, tanks, equipment, and other industrial systems.
• Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, insulation schedules, and work instructions to determine materials and installation requirements.
• Measuring, cutting, fitting, and securing insulation materials to ensure proper coverage and fit.
• Installing and removing metal jacketing, cladding, weatherproofing, and associated insulation components.
• Safely removing existing insulation to provide access for maintenance, inspection, and repair activities.
• Inspecting completed insulation work to ensure proper installation, coverage, weatherproofing, and adherence to project specifications.
• Working closely with other trades and turnaround crews to coordinate insulation removal and reinstatement around scheduled maintenance activities.
• Maintaining a clean and organized work area and following all site safety procedures, permits, and turnaround requirements.
• Working safely at heights and in confined or restricted areas as required by the project.

• Journeyperson Insulator certification recognized in BC or another Canadian jurisdiction -or- proof of Insulator hours. 
• Industrial insulation experience, preferably within oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG, or other heavy industrial environments.
• Valid IRATA certification is required.
• Previous turnaround, shutdown, maintenance, or industrial construction experience is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated experience installing, removing, repairing, and replacing insulation on piping, vessels, tanks, and industrial equipment.
• Experience working with various insulation materials, jacketing, cladding, and weatherproofing systems.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and insulation plans.
• Ability to work safely at heights and in confined or restricted spaces.
• Current safety certifications required by the client and applicable BC standards.
• Ability to work a 6/1 rotation on 12-hour shifts, including day or night shifts.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced turnaround environment.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Must successfully complete all required site orientations, safety training, and pre-employment screening.

Additional Assets

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Previous experience working in industrial or skilled trades environments.
• Experience working on LNG or other large-scale industrial projects.
• Familiarity with LNG operations and site requirements.
• Previous experience supporting major turnarounds or shutdown projects.
• Background or experience working alongside mechanical trades.
• Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
