Tacten is currently recruiting for a Rope Access Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join our team in the Fort McMurray area. As an I&E Technician at Tacten, you will be contributing directly to the success of our clients' operations. Position Information: 

  • Position duration: May 12th, 2025 - June 20th, 2025
  • 6/1 rotation, 12 hour day shifts
  • IRATA Level 1 Certification required, or willingness to obtain
  • Fly-in-fly-out from all major hubs in Canada
  • Camp provided

Responsibilities

  • Witness tests of continuity, insulation resistance.
  • Checks installation of instruments.
  • Witness test on functional instruments.
  • Checks pneumatic signal connection.
  • Witness test communication functionalities.
  • Witness the tests, controls and inspections carried out.
  • Ensure installations adhere to corporate policies, procedures, applicable codes and regulations
  • Perform installation, problem diagnosis, fault analysis and repair of computerized control systems relative to the following:
  • Metering (volumetric and mass measurement) and control devices
  • Control systems (PLC, Relay Logic, DCS, etc.)
  • Read and draw basic electrical schematics
  • Basic knowledge of local area network

Requirements

  • Previous construction experience within the oil and gas industry.
  • Previous exposure to high voltage electrical installation including switchgear and electric drives.
  • Exposure to Hazardous Area installations.
  • Instrument calibrations including ultrasonic flow meter, level transmitters, temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters etc.
  • A working knowledge of IEC/ISO/NEC/ANSI/API/ISA/NFPA codes and standards relating to electrical and instrumentation work.
  • Working knowledge of construction standards, codes of practice and regulations/legislation relating to electrical and instrumentation work
  • Knowledge of safety legislation and regulations.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.  (Excel/Word)
  • Hazardous Area installation and inspection experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Thorough knowledge of pipeline systems and surface equipment, including tanks, valves, positive displacement and centrifugal pumps, electric motors, gas engines, and other pertinent equipment.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline transportation system operations.
  • Sound knowledge of PSMA, API, NEC and OSHA codes and standards with an ability to apply that knowledge to pipeline projects.
  • Strong, team oriented interpersonal communication.
