Acuren Group is currently recruiting for a highly skilled and experienced Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) Technician in Fort McMurray, AB. You will be specializing in subsurface void detection, identifying rebar in concrete, and subsurface utility locates for an industrial facility. As a GPR Technician, you will be responsible for utilizing various models of GPR equipment, such as GSSI, MALA, PROCEQ, SENSORS, and SOFTWARE, with an emphasis on the GSSI models. Your role will involve conducting comprehensive surveys and assessments to identify subsurface anomalies, underground utilities, and potential hazards. 

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain GPR equipment to conduct subsurface void detection, rebar identification in concrete, and subsurface utility locates on an industrial facility. 
  • Perform thorough surveys and assessments using GPR technology to identify and locate Subsurface anomalies, voids, rebar, and utilities with a high level of accuracy. 
  • Collaborate with project teams to determine the scope of work, objectives, and timelines for GPR surveys. 
  • Interpret GPR data and provide detailed reports and recommendations based on findings. 
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and guidelines while operating GPR equipment and working on-site. 
  • Collaborate with other technicians and professionals to ensure efficient and effective data collection and analysis. 
  • Maintain and calibrate GPR equipment to ensure accurate and reliable performance. 
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in GPR technology, equipment, and methodologies. 
  • Provide training and guidance to junior technicians, as needed. 

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a GPR Technician specializing in subsurface void detection, rebar identification in concrete, and subsurface utility locates, preferably in an industrial facility setting. 
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining various models of GPR equipment, including GSSI, MALA, PROCEQ, SENSORS, and SOFTWARE, with an emphasis on GSSI models. 
  • Strong understanding of GPR data interpretation and analysis techniques. 
  • Knowledge of industrial facility infrastructure, including concrete structures, underground utilities, and subsurface voids. 
  • Familiarity with APEGA certification is an asset. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols. 
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site at various industrial facilities. 
  • Valid driver's license
